Comfrey
Comfrey is an herbal medicine that is administered externally to treat bruises, sprains, pulled muscles and ligaments, gum disease, canker sores, and pharyngitis. It is also used internally to treat gastritis, and gastrointestinal ulcers. Internal usage is not recommended because comfrey may have hepatoxic and carcinogenic effects on users due to the presence of pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PA). Some people have died from eating or drinking comfrey remedies. Comfrey may also cause liver damage and cancer.
